One hundred people from various fields will attend the on-site inauguration event, which will also be broadcast live on YouTube.
Attendees include Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan; Shin Sang-hae, Chairman of the Busan City Council; Kim Seok-jun, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education; Park Soo-young, Member of the National Assembly; Kim Hak-soo, former Secretary-General of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP); Park Soo-jong, Chairman of the National Career and Academic Counseling Teachers Association; and singer Insooni, a distinguished professor at Dongmyung University, among 100 domestic and international dignitaries.

Park Soo-jong, a teacher at Gwangmyeong High School and chairman of the National Career and Academic Counseling Teachers Association, will deliver a congratulatory speech representing over 5,300 career and academic counseling teachers nationwide.
Teacher Park will express strong support for Dongmyung University's newly established ‘Do-ing University’ and discuss active communication education.
Also present will be Seo Ui-taek, Chairman of the Dongmyung Cultural Foundation, Lee Kwan-yi, Executive Director, former presidents of Dongmyung University including Yang Seung-taek, former Minister of Information and Communication, and Lee Mu-geun, former president of Kyungil University; Kwon Chil-woo, president of the Dongmyung University Alumni Association and former vice chairman of the Busan City Council; Lee Hyun-seok, president of the student council; Hwang Jong-ho, chairman of the faculty council; Park Young-jae, chairman of the faculty labor union; and Lee Jae-dong, head of the staff union branch.
President Jeon Ho-hwan will point out in his inaugural address that “assuming metropolitan universities maintain their current enrollment quotas, most regional universities will inevitably have to close within 10 years,” highlighting the serious situation.
He plans to propose five measures to nurture universities as growth engines for regions and the nation, including proportional reductions in enrollment quotas across all universities, including metropolitan and national universities, in line with the declining school-age population.
President Jeon will state, “Even if all approximately 270,000 children born in 2020 enter university, it will not fill even half of the university admission quotas,” and will propose legislation to encourage enrollment in regional universities, as well as strengthening such laws. He is expected to urge the swift passage of the ‘Regional University Development Act’ and the ‘Innovation City Act,’ which increase the proportion of local talent to over 50% in public enterprise recruitment.
He will also propose legislation supporting the orderly exit of marginal private universities and M&A among private universities, abolishing government evaluation-based university support projects, and legalizing local government support for universities. He will emphasize the importance of universities’ own innovation efforts as well.
President Jeon holds the conviction that innovation to move beyond the $30,000 per capita income plateau toward the $50,000 era is only possible through education.
He has long advocated a new national wealth theory that aims to create new wealth through an educational revolution.
Calling himself a practicing ‘Do-ing President,’ he will reveal three major university management plans for Dongmyung University: establishing ‘Do-ing University’ to cultivate capabilities that foster unchanging values and fundamentals regardless of the world’s changes; advancing the College of Engineering aiming to be like the U.S. Olin College of Engineering; and realizing a regional innovation platform shared university among universities in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) mega-city to achieve the Bu-Ul-Gyeong mega-city vision. His motto for university innovation is ‘Byeonjeok Tonggu (變則通久),’ meaning “Change leads to continuity and longevity.”
The ‘Do-ing University,’ a new university education paradigm based on three ‘no’s: no grades, no credits, and no teaching, aims to practice education that develops students’ lifelong capabilities through activities that realize various values (such as reading classics, singing foreign songs, stock investment, yachting, horseback riding, musicals, etc.) rather than knowledge transmission.
President Jeon has taken on the role of a ‘swordsman’ who cuts away the three fixed notions of grade, credit, and teaching.
While majors exist, courses without departmental credits and immersive competency education focused on practical projects will be offered. He plans to declare the advancement of Dongmyung University’s College of Engineering, following the example of Olin College of Engineering, which rose to the ranks of prestigious American universities within 10 years of its founding in 2002.
He will also take the lead in realizing the Bu-Ul-Gyeong mega-city to overcome the metropolitan one-pole system, the main culprit of the ‘Hell Joseon’ phenomenon, and propose the realization of a shared university among four universities in Nam-gu, Busan as a first step.

He plans to have a conversation with singer ‘Insooni,’ recently appointed as a distinguished professor, and record it immediately after the inauguration ceremony to broadcast on YouTube, showcasing a unique idea.
The newly established Do-ing University at Dongmyung University will have three majors: Entrepreneurship, YouTube Creator, and Digital Performing Arts.
The Entrepreneurship major aims to cultivate challenging entrepreneurial spirit and capabilities to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution society.
The Digital Performing Arts major develops abilities to combine the artistic sensibility of Hallyu (Korean Wave) such as K-pop, breakdancing, and acting with digital technology.
The YouTube Creator major nurtures comprehensive capabilities to create unique content and operate channels in the YouTube world, which is the trend of the times.
