Nutrient Supply for Recovery of 'Gwanbangjerim Pujonamu' Tree Health in Donghae
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 26th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it is conducting nutrient supply work to restore the vitality of the Pujonamu trees within Damyang Gwanbangje-rim, Natural Monument No. 366.
This nutrient supply work will be carried out three times at 15-day intervals until mid-June, and the growth changes of the leaves will be continuously monitored through regular observation.
Earlier, the county conducted an on-site inspection with tree experts to check the condition of the Pujonamu trees in Gwanbangje-rim, where leaf sprouting was slower compared to previous years.
As a result of the on-site inspection, it was found that about 100 old Pujonamu trees in Gwanbangje-rim, Natural Monument No. 366, suffered frost damage from the cold wave that hit in January and failed to sprout leaves.
Experts also believe that the cold wave this winter caused the twigs and new shoots of the frost-sensitive Pujonamu trees to freeze and die.
