Camping is Trending Again This Year... Jaju's Camping Equipment Sales Up 67%
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Camping, which gained popularity last year due to the impact of COVID-19, has continued to be a major trend this year.
Jaju, a brand under Shinsegae International, announced on the 26th that sales of camping supplies have increased by 67% from January to May this year compared to the same period last year. Mats and cooler bags, which are essential camping items, are representative popular products with sales rising more than 50% year-on-year.
Alcohol-related items are also popular. Drinking glasses suitable for drinking alone or meals for one to two people, as well as convenient-to-use tableware, are receiving particularly positive responses. Sales of basic design Bavaria beer glasses and Madison wine glasses increased by 164% compared to last year, and sales of portable acacia wood salad bowls and plates rose by 175%.
Sales of mini fire pits, fire pit pots, and multi gas burners also increased by more than 52%. Direct flame torches for grilling, which can be easily used not only outdoors but also indoors, and griddles, a representative camping cooking tool, are also receiving good responses.
As the camping market grows and related products receive positive feedback, Jaju plans to launch various new products this year.
The upgraded “360-degree rotating 4-wheel folding cart,” released this month, saw sales increase by 90% compared to last year. This product can be used in various ways such as a shopping cart, camping cart, or recycling bin, and can carry up to 55 kg of items. When the cart lid is closed, it can be used as a simple camping table, making it convenient. The newly released “multi-purpose silicone plate,” optimized for camping, is also well received as it is unbreakable and good for holding various foods.
New outdoor clothing suitable for camping trips has also been produced. The windbreaker jumper with water-repellent and quick-drying functions and cooling jogger leggings, which can be worn comfortably, have shown a sales rate of over 80% since their launch and have gone into reproduction.
To celebrate the camping season, Jaju is holding a “Campnic Series” special exhibition on Shinsegae International’s official online mall SI Village until June 6th. Customers who purchase camping products worth over 80,000 KRW will receive a tumbler bag or string lights while supplies last.
