Earlier, on the 14th, a taxi driver in his 60s was stabbed to death by a passenger in his 20s wielding a knife on a road in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 24th, a petition titled "I earnestly request the 'disclosure of personal information and severe punishment (death penalty)' for the Bundang taxi driver stabbing murderer" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board. As of 11 a.m. on the 25th, the petition had received over 15,600 signatures.
The petitioner, who identified herself as the daughter of the victim taxi driver, opened up, saying, "My father was brutally killed after being stabbed about 20 times with a knife in the neck, chest, and other parts of his body by a rear-seat passenger in the taxi heading from Incheon to Bundang."
The petitioner expressed grief, saying, "After the funeral, when I came home, all the traces of my father before he left for work were still here, and it is so heartbreaking that he could not return home."
She continued, "While holding the funeral, I was following the news reports to understand the circumstances of the incident," and added, "After the funeral, I went to the Bundang Police Station to receive the investigation results so far, but I was told that since the prosecution's investigation is ongoing, I should wait to hear the details during the upcoming trial," she claimed.

She appealed, "Please disclose the perpetrator's personal information and have the prosecution seek the death penalty and the court impose it, so that this 23-year-old perpetrator cannot roam freely in this city again using 'mental illness' as a free pass, and so that there will be no other victims."
Meanwhile, on the 16th, the Gyeonggi Bundang Police Station arrested passenger A on charges of stabbing a taxi driver multiple times with a weapon without reason, resulting in the driver's death.
Immediately after the crime, A tried to escape but was caught by the police when a tow truck driver passing by blocked the rear door with his body. The bleeding taxi driver received cardiopulmonary resuscitation from 119 paramedics and was transported to the hospital but ultimately died.

A was not intoxicated at the time of the crime and was found to have been treated for a mental illness in the past. The police confirmed that A admitted to the murder charge but was not acquainted with the taxi driver, and since the motive is unknown, they are investigating the possibility of a 'random killing.'
