Women Crime OUT!... Gangnam-gu Establishes 'Women Safety Cluster'
On the 24th, Gangnam-gu and Suseo Police Station sign agreement with ADT Caps... Recruiting 500 female single-person households, providing 3 types of security packages
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) signed a 'Women’s Safety Cluster Establishment Agreement' with Gangnam and Suseo Police Stations and ADT Caps on the 24th at the main building’s small conference room.
This is to prevent crimes targeting single-woman households.
According to the agreement, the four organizations will jointly promote projects such as the ‘Women’s Home Security Service,’ installation of ‘Women’s Safe Staircases,’ ‘Safe Return Home Scouts,’ ‘Illegal Filming Citizen Surveillance Team,’ and ‘Women’s Safe Return Home Routes.’
In June, 500 households will be recruited from low-income, housing-vulnerable groups including single-woman households, single-parent households headed by women, and households composed only of women to receive the ‘Women’s Home Security Service’ free of charge.
The service involves installing three devices: a wireless front door CCTV capable of two-way communication, an intrusion detection sensor, and an emergency bell, with ADT Caps dispatched in case of emergencies.
The district will support the monthly usage fee (9,900 KRW) for the home security service for one year, and ADT Caps will cover the full installation cost. The police stations will recommend female households in need of the home security service to minimize crime blind spots.

Meanwhile, this agreement was planned in response to the steady increase in crimes targeting women living alone as the number of single-woman households rises annually. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, 300 residential intrusion sex crimes occurred over five years centered around areas densely populated by single-woman households in Seoul in 2019.
