[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Welfare and Construction Committee (Chairman Gil Ki-young) of the Jung-gu Council in Seoul (Chairman Jo Young-hoon) visited the Sindang 5-dong Urban Regeneration Field Support Center and the Jangchung-dong Alleyway Regeneration Project site on the 21st.
First, Welfare and Construction Committee Chairman Gil Ki-young, along with members Lee Hwa-mook and Yoon Pan-oh, headed to the Sindang 5-dong Urban Regeneration Field Support Center. The Sindang 5-dong area (around Sindang 5-dong 144-11) was selected last year as a Seoul-type urban regeneration project site, and plans are underway to improve the aging residential environment and alleyway maintenance, as well as to upgrade and expand infrastructure by 2025.
Earlier this year, the Urban Regeneration Field Support Center opened to support resident communication and community revitalization.
The committee members carefully inspected the facility and thoroughly checked the operational status, received reports on future plans, and urged the accompanying district office officials to ensure smooth progress of the project.
The next visit continued to the Jangchung-dong 2-ga Alleyway Regeneration Project site (around Jangchungdan-ro 7-gil). The Jangchung-dong Alleyway Regeneration Project was selected in 2018 through the Seoul City alleyway regeneration project competition, and involved environmental improvement works such as road paving and aesthetic maintenance, as well as the creation of resident hub spaces to revitalize the community. The construction was completed last year.
Currently, the Jangchung-dong 2-ga alleyway features wide and pleasant pedestrian paths and a community room filled with neighborly warmth, welcoming residents with a noticeably improved appearance.
The committee members walked along the alleyway, observing lowered fences and widened roads, and also visited the centrally located community room to check its operational status.
