Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, "Be Careful of Bee Stings When the Heat Wave Begins"
Increased Bee Sting Incidents Expected as Bee Activity Intensifies with the Onset of Heat
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] The Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters emphasized caution against bee sting accidents as temperatures rise during the summer season.
According to the fire department's dispatch statistics, out of 1,815 bee sting dispatch cases over the past three years, 1,523 cases, accounting for 83.9%, occurred between June and September, when the heatwave begins.
In particular, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast, temperatures are expected to return to normal from next week, and there is a 70% probability that the average monthly temperature until July this year will be higher than usual, indicating a high risk of accidents.
To prevent bee sting injuries, it is essential to wear a hat and long clothing when going to the mountains.
Also, wearing clothes in bright colors such as white helps prevent safety accidents.
Perfumes, cosmetics, and hair sprays can cause strong smells that may provoke bees, so it is advised to avoid them. Sweet foods like juice or fruit can attract bees, so they should not be brought along.
