Seocho-gu Launches Mental Health Campaign to Overcome COVID-19 Depression
Self-Care, Mental Defense, and Therapy Methods to Overcome COVID Depression... Up to 3 Psychiatric Counseling Sessions Supported After Self-Diagnosis of Depression
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seocho-gu (Mayor Jo Eun-hee) is conducting the 'Overcoming COVID-19 Depression, Seocho Mind Defense Campaign' to help residents experiencing depression, stress, and psychological fatigue due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic overcome these feelings.
With the slogan of practicing self-care, this campaign presents ways to care for one's mind, including four methods of self-care practice, seven ways of mental defense that help transform distressing thoughts into positive ones, and seven types of mental vaccines that heal the mind.
First, through leaflets, posters, and campaign activities distributed to local institutions under the title 'Overcoming COVID-19 Depression, 2021 Seocho Mind Defense Campaign,' the campaign informs residents about how to protect their minds from COVID-19 depression, emphasizing that self-care is the first step in treating depression. It also encourages residents to regularly check their mental health through a COVID-19 depression self-diagnosis.
After the self-diagnosis, if professional help is needed, residents can apply to the Seocho Mind Health Center, where they can use the 'Seocho Mind Defense Coupon' linked with psychiatric services to receive partial support for up to three counseling sessions. This is to ensure that anyone experiencing psychological difficulties can easily and quickly access counseling services.
Additionally, the leaflet that provides the Seocho Mind Defense Coupon includes a Hope Seed (Seed Stick), allowing individuals to grow their own companion plants. This encourages positive emotions through responsibility and a sense of accomplishment, achieving emotional and psychological defense effects through companion plants.
The district expects that the 'Overcoming COVID-19 Depression, Seocho Mind Defense Campaign' will help individuals in the early stages of depression, who often find it difficult to recognize their condition, to self-diagnose and receive prompt and practical counseling services, thereby contributing to managing depression and stress caused by COVID-19.
