Busan City Launches Customized Overseas Marketing Support for Export Companies... Pilot Projects Including Big Data Construction in Trade Sector
Discovering Specialized Agencies in Desired Fields and Providing Platforms for Companies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) is conducting a pilot project called ‘Non-face-to-face Marketing Support Utilizing Overseas Agencies,’ where local companies independently use professional agencies to carry out overseas marketing.
Since the spread of COVID-19, overseas marketing has mainly been conducted through KOTRA’s overseas branch projects and buyers who participated in existing exhibitions and consultation meetings.
Amid increasing volatility in trade environments such as digital non-face-to-face trends, Busan City has reflected the demands of local companies.
This project aims to discover data related to professional agencies to enhance companies’ independent overseas marketing capabilities and satisfaction, and to establish a customized support platform for each company.
The project targets 20 small and medium-sized enterprises in the Busan area with export amounts under 20 million USD.
After applying for the project, companies select local agencies directly to conduct overseas marketing activities such as discovering new business partners and developing distribution networks. When the results are registered in Busan City’s integrated overseas marketing system, part of the agency fees (80%, up to 3 million KRW per company) will be supported.
From June to August, participant companies will be recruited for two weeks each month (three times a year), and companies selected through eligibility screening will independently conduct overseas marketing with support from the Busan Economic Promotion Agency.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan said, “Through this pilot project, we plan to strengthen local companies’ overseas marketing capabilities to enhance export capacity in the non-face-to-face era and to build big data in the trade sector, which will be reflected in the establishment of Busan City’s trade promotion policies.”
