11,000 Multicultural Students in Chungnam Region... 4.62% of Total Students
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The number of multicultural family students in the Chungnam region was recorded at 11,989 this year. This is an increase of 803 compared to last year, accounting for 4.62% of the total students in the region (259,479).
According to the Chungnam Office of Education on the 22nd, the number of multicultural students in the area was highest in Cheonan with 2,582, followed by Asan with 2,303, and Nonsan·Gyeryong with 1,068.
The proportion of multicultural students was highest in Cheongyang at 13.7%, Geumsan at 12.2%, and Buyeo at 9.8%, indicating that rural areas have relatively more multicultural students compared to other cities and counties.
The cities and counties where the number of multicultural students increased compared to the previous year were Asan, Cheonan, and Seosan, while Seocheon and Buyeo showed little change. This year, Asan saw an increase of 269 multicultural students, Cheonan 181, and Seosan 100 compared to last year.
The Office of Education plans to expand support for these students in response to the increasing number of multicultural students in the region. To this end, the Office of Education signed business agreements with five local universities?Konyang University, Dankook University, Soonchunhyang University, Cheongwoon University, and Hanseo University?and 16 multicultural family support centers to mutually cooperate in supporting local multicultural students.

The universities participating in the agreement will work with the Office of Education to carry out projects such as multicultural student mentoring and Dream Growth Camps, playing a role in helping the academic growth of local multicultural students.
