"Failure to Report Assets Violation" vs "Unregistered Property Omission Mistake" Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, Under Investigation Just Over 40 Days After Inauguration
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun is expected to be subject to a police investigation about 40 days after his inauguration.
On the 21st, the Busan Police Agency announced that it will assign the case, in which a civic group filed a complaint against Mayor Park Hyung-jun for violating the Public Official Election Act, to the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Division for investigation.
The Bukyeongju Area Solidarity filed a complaint with the Busan Police Agency on the same day, alleging that Mayor Park omitted an unregistered building under his spouse's name from his property declaration during the April 7 Busan mayoral by-election.
The group stated that omitting the building in Cheonggwang-ri, Gijang-gun, Busan, registered under the mayor's spouse's name, constitutes false statement disclosure.
The building in question is a two-story structure completed in 2017 but has remained unregistered for four years.
During the recent by-election period, when the omission of the property declaration was raised as an issue, Mayor Park's side amended the property declaration.

At that time, Mayor Park's side explained that the architect had not registered the building, so the omission was an unintentional mistake, which was discovered later, and that all taxes including acquisition and registration taxes were fully paid, so there was no problem at all.
