440 Confirmed Cases Nationwide by 6 PM, 88 Fewer Than Previous Day... 500 Cases Expected Tomorrow
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] As the spread of COVID-19 continues, new confirmed cases were reported across the country on the 20th.
According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, a total of 440 new confirmed cases were recorded nationwide from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day. This is 88 fewer than the 528 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
The slight decrease in the interim confirmed cases on this day appears to partly reflect the reduced number of tests conducted due to Buddha's Birthday.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported, 304 cases (69.1%) were in the metropolitan area, and 136 cases (30.9%) were in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, there were 155 cases in Gyeonggi, 141 in Seoul, 34 in Chungnam, 13 each in Busan and Gyeongnam, 10 each in Gyeongbuk and Jeonnam, 9 each in Daegu and Chungbuk, 8 each in Gwangju and Incheon, 7 each in Daejeon and Gangwon, 6 each in Ulsan and Jeonbuk, and 4 in Jeju. However, no confirmed cases have yet been reported in Sejong.
