Gwangju City Expands Free Milk Supply Support for Elementary and Middle Schools
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 20th that starting next month, it will expand free school milk support for students of 24 small-scale elementary and middle schools within the city.
The free school milk support project is being promoted to improve the physical strength of students from low-income families (National Basic Livelihood Security recipients, near-poverty class, single-parent families, special education recipients, etc.) in elementary, middle, high, and special schools, and to establish a growth foundation for the dairy industry. Last year, about 23,000 students received support.
Gwangju City confirmed additional support for about 1,900 students of small-scale schools through consultation with the City Office of Education to enhance welfare and health for students of small schools, which may have relatively poor educational environments due to fewer students.
The approximately 200 million won required for this expanded support will be funded by national and city budgets.
