The First Gangdong Flea Market of the Year Opened on the 8th at Sangildong Eoulmadang... Rich Programs for the Whole Family to Enjoy in the Month of Family
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) opened the first Gangdong Flea Market of the year on the 8th at Sangil-dong Eoul Madang (in front of Gangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital).
The Gangdong Flea Market is not just a marketplace for trading secondhand goods but a place that spreads an eco-friendly and sustainable sharing culture, serving as a venue for harmony where families and neighbors communicate. This year marks the 14th anniversary of Gangdong-gu's largest flea market.
Since last year, the flea market has faced difficulties operating due to COVID-19, but to preserve the cherished culture of sharing and communication built over many years and to revitalize the local economy, which has been weakened, the market was opened on a reduced scale.
The flea market held this time featured programs under the theme of "Family" in celebration of May, Family Month, including "Making Carnations," "Hands-on Manduk Making Experience," and a "Amazing Magic Show," offering activities enjoyable for all ages and receiving great responses from residents.
On the 22nd, the Gangdong Flea Market, where families can participate, will be held at the Gangdong-gu Office Open Yard along with the Gangdong Family Festival event.
The Gangdong Flea Market is held on the second and fourth Saturdays from May to October but does not operate during the peak summer months (July to August) and the Prehistoric Culture Festival period (second week of October).

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "The Gangdong Flea Market has value beyond economic effects as it fosters a culture of sharing and donation through communication among residents," adding, "I hope everyone participates in the Gangdong Flea Market and feels the warmth of sharing."
