Due to a Surge in COVID-19 Cases, Hong Kong-Singapore 'Travel Normalization' Postponed
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As COVID-19 cases surge again, the travel bubble, a travel normalization measure between Hong Kong and Singapore, has been postponed once more.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 17th, the governments of Hong Kong and Singapore announced in a statement that the travel bubble, scheduled to begin on the 26th of this month, will be postponed.
The Singapore government significantly strengthened quarantine measures starting from the 16th due to an increase in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases with unknown infection routes.
Previously, the two countries planned to start the travel bubble on November 22 last year, but it was postponed just before implementation due to the fourth wave of COVID-19 spreading in Hong Kong.
