Gangneung-si, 'Social Distancing Level 1.5' from the 17th... Decrease in Foreigners' Confirmed Cases
"Domestic and Foreigners' Living Contact Points Differ, Judged Low Risk of Domestic Confirmed Cases"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City will lower the social distancing level, which had been raised to level 2 due to a cluster outbreak among foreign workers, to level 1.5 for non-metropolitan areas designated by the government, effective from midnight on the 17th.
On the 16th, the city stated, "Since the COVID-19 infection tracking tests conducted every three days on foreign workers have shown a stable trend, and because their contact with locals is limited, reducing the risk of confirmed cases among locals, we have decided to lower the level."
According to the city, the trend of COVID-19 infections among foreigners was 16 cases on May 6, 11 cases on May 9, 6 cases on May 12, and 4 cases on May 15.
With this adjustment in social distancing levels, restaurants, cafes, indoor sports facilities, karaoke rooms, and bathhouses, which were previously restricted to operating until 10 PM under level 2, will now be allowed to operate without time restrictions, and the ban on gatherings in entertainment establishments will be lifted.
