Chinese National Wielding Weapon Rampage at Home Arrested on the Spot After Police Use Taser
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 20s who was causing a disturbance by threatening police officers with a weapon while they were responding with his family was subdued after being hit with a police taser (electronic shock device).
On the 15th, the Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested A (29), a Chinese national, on charges including obstruction of official duties.
According to the police, A threatened his parents with a weapon at his home in Geumcheon-gu around 2:30 a.m. that day and also wielded the weapon at the responding officers, obstructing their official duties. It was confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
A caused a disturbance for several tens of minutes before being subdued by the taser fired by the police.
It is known that A had previously received hospital treatment for a mental illness.

A police official stated, "After arresting A, we completed the investigation and, with his consent, transferred him to the hospital where he was receiving treatment."
