[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Seo Chunsu, the mayor of Hamyang County, announced on the 14th that he participated in the Flower Bucket Challenge campaign to help flower farmers struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The 'Flower Bucket Challenge' is a public relay campaign to promote flower consumption that started last February when the Jeju Small Business Association proposed to support struggling farmers after events were canceled and flower demand sharply declined due to the COVID-19 situation. The campaign has spread through SNS and offline channels.
Mayor Seo Chunsu, who joined the campaign after being nominated by Park Yudong, president of Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College on the 3rd, nominated Hamyang County Council Chairman Hwang Tae-jin and Hamyang Office of Education Superintendent Lee Jong-yoon as successors, delivering flowers he purchased directly from local flower farms to both individuals.
To Chairman Hwang Tae-jin, he gave a Lewisia flower symbolizing 'healing' to wish for the mental stability of flower farmers exhausted by COVID-19, and to Superintendent Lee Jong-yoon, he presented a hydrangea symbolizing 'communication' to hope for the development of Hamyang education through mutual communication between teachers and students on Teachers' Day, continuing the relay.
