Rapid Growth of Online Classes Due to Prolonged 'Jipkok' Lifestyle
Class101 Total Visitors Reach 30 Million
Fast Campus 'Online Completion Class' Students Receive 93.8% Refund
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the number of 'untact study enthusiasts' seeking online classes is increasing. As using the increased personal time from remote work and other factors to develop oneself through untact (non-face-to-face) education platforms becomes a trend, the growth speed of online classes is accelerating.
Class101 is offering about 1,800 classes as of early May this year, which is three times more than the same period last year. Not only has the number increased, but the classes are recognized as high quality, with an average student satisfaction rate reaching 97%. The number of visitors has also surged. Compared to before COVID-19, the cumulative number of visitors has reached 30 million, nearly four times higher, marking remarkable achievements. The cumulative number of creators registered to showcase their talents through online classes is about 87,000, and the cumulative settlement amount paid to creators who actually operated classes exceeded 40 billion KRW as of last April.
Accordingly, Class101 is evolving into a platform that provides diverse experiences through business diversification. The B2B (business-to-business) exclusive service 'Class101 Business' is currently adopted by companies such as SK Telecom, Nike Korea, Kakao, Samsung Card, and Hyundai Home Shopping as a solution for employee education and welfare, receiving positive responses. A Class101 representative said, "Since COVID-19, Class101 has proposed a new perspective on learning and gained high popularity," adding, "We will continue to strive to offer various classes that not only meet students' demands but also suggest new tastes."
Fast Campus, an educational content company led by CEO Lee Kang-min, reported that over 90% of students completed the 'Online Completion Class' program conducted over the past year and received refunds. Fast Campus launched the 'Online Completion Class' in April last year to boost learning motivation as non-face-to-face education expanded and demand for online lectures increased due to COVID-19. The program features personalized learning management through one-on-one coaching and provision of study schedules, and maximizes learning concentration with refund rewards through weekly learning missions.

During the past year, 93.8% of students in the program achieved missions and received refunds, with the total refund amount returned to students reaching 850 million KRW. Fast Campus explained that this was the result of introducing a strong motivation system and planning practical education by analyzing the latest trends and student demands. CEO Lee Kang-min stated, "We plan to continue preparing various educational contents and systems that can effectively strengthen students' learning motivation in a non-face-to-face education environment."
