Yangcheon-gu Establishes Smart Management System Including Information Provision on Temporary Structures
Real-Time On-Site Verification with QR Code-Enabled Signage
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is establishing a ‘Temporary Building Smart Management System’ that allows real-time on-site verification of temporary building information by attaching smart signs with embedded QR codes on temporary buildings starting this year.
Temporary buildings refer to structures used temporarily and for limited purposes such as construction site temporary buildings and temporary warehouses. The Building Act stipulates certain uses, structures, and sizes for these buildings.
If one wishes to install a temporary building, they must report the construction to the district office after setting a retention period of within three years for the temporary building.
If the temporary building is to be used beyond the retention period, an extension report must be submitted to the district office at least seven days before the expiration date. Failure to submit the extension report results in the imposition of a compliance penalty.
The district office notifies residents with a prior notice before the expiration date to prevent disadvantages caused by failure to submit extension reports for temporary buildings. However, there have been cases where penalties were imposed or temporary buildings were left unattended without permission after the retention period due to failure to follow the extension procedure.
To prevent this, the district office has promoted the ‘Temporary Building QR Code Sign System.’
Starting in May, the district office plans to add QR codes containing information related to temporary buildings on signs that include the temporary building’s report number, use, structure, and retention period. These signs will be issued along with the construction report certificate and extension report when reporting temporary building construction or retention period extension.
By scanning the QR code on the sign with a smartphone, the temporary building owner (manager) can easily access ▲laws related to temporary buildings ▲civil service applications for temporary building construction reports or retention period extension reports ▲information on the Yangcheon-gu Architecture Department and responsible personnel. For further details, please contact the Yangcheon-gu Architecture Department.
