In particular, Mayor Heo strongly urged the establishment of the Gimhae Employment and Labor Office on this day.
Gimhae City has the second largest number of manufacturing and general businesses nationwide, of which 78% are small businesses with fewer than five employees. This results in a higher risk of industrial accidents compared to neighboring areas and a high demand for welfare services from 230,000 workers. Nevertheless, employment and labor affairs for Gimhae City are handled by the Yangsan branch under the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, causing accumulated inconvenience for citizens due to the long distance.
In addition, in response to government policy, discussions are underway, including the launch of a resident-centered integration promotion committee for the administrative district integration of Buwon, Dongsang, and Hoehyeon-dong. Accordingly, Mayor Heo requested financial incentive support for the prompt completion of the old downtown gymnasium project currently under construction in the integrated target area.
Regarding special grant fund support, Mayor Heo requested a total of 10 billion KRW for eight projects, including 7 billion KRW for five local pending projects and 3 billion KRW for three disaster-related projects.
Major projects requested for support in the local pending area include 2 billion KRW for road maintenance to improve visitor convenience at the Hapocheon Wetland Management Center, 1 billion KRW for landscape maintenance along the Daecheong Stream, 1 billion KRW for the creation of the Queen Heo Memorial Park, 1 billion KRW for road maintenance from Jangyu Sinan to Yulha 2 District, and 2 billion KRW for the ecological restoration project of Yongseong Stream.
In the disaster area, requests were made for 2 billion KRW for repair and reinforcement of five locations including Chilsan IC connection roads, 500 million KRW for installation of 22 CCTV units, and 500 million KRW for drainage construction in the Jinyeong Naeryong district.
Following this, Mayor Heo visited the National Assembly and met with two local lawmakers, Min Hong-chul and Kim Jeong-ho, to explain local pending projects and special grant fund applications and asked for their support.
