Naver D2SF Makes New Investment in Digital Health Startup 'Imocog'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver's startup incubation organization, D2SF (D2 Startup Factory), announced on the 13th that it has made a new investment in the digital health startup 'Imocog'.
Imocog is a developer of digital therapeutics (DTx) for mild cognitive impairment. Mild cognitive impairment is a pre-dementia stage where cognitive abilities decline compared to peers of the same age, but daily life can still be performed, making early diagnosis and symptom alleviation of dementia very important. Digital therapeutics are software that induces changes in patients' behavior or lifestyle to treat diseases, attracting global attention due to low psychological resistance from patients.
Imocog has also independently developed a program called 'Meta Memory Classroom' that can improve cognitive abilities in patients with mild cognitive impairment, providing services offline and via AI (artificial intelligence) speakers. The smartphone program 'Cogthera' currently in preparation activates brain areas related to memory strategies to enhance long-term memory. It is based on 15 years of accumulated research data and its effectiveness has already been verified through five published papers.
The co-founders of Imocog possess not only research achievements but also business capabilities necessary for regulatory approval. Co-CEO Lee Junyoung is a geriatric psychiatrist at Seoul National University College of Medicine who has treated patients with mild cognitive impairment and dementia for 20 years, and co-CEO Noh Youheon is a former professor of anatomy at Chung-Ang University College of Medicine who has researched brain function improvement through various drugs.
Yang Sanghwan, leader of Naver D2SF, stated, "Imocog, which we newly invested in this time, has solid research achievements and business capabilities proven effective, and we expect it to lead to various services."
