Unisem Reports 77.6 Billion KRW in 1Q Sales... "Record Highest Quarterly Performance"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Unisem announced on the 13th that it recorded consolidated first-quarter sales of 77.6 billion KRW and operating profit of 13.6 billion KRW. These represent increases of 34.7% and 41.7%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Net profit rose 71.6% to 12.7 billion KRW.
Unisem is a specialized company in scrubbers, which are harmful gas treatment equipment generated during semiconductor and display production processes, and chillers, which are temperature control devices. It supplies equipment to leading domestic and international semiconductor and display companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Display, and BOE.
Demand for scrubbers and chillers remained solid as Samsung Electronics, the company's main supplier, continued its investments in memory and foundry. In particular, the supply volume of scrubbers significantly increased due to expanded facility investments by SK Hynix.
A company official stated, “We achieved results that greatly exceeded the highest sales of 66.9 billion KRW recorded in the first quarter of 2018, which was the most recent semiconductor industry boom period. Considering the equipment orders received during the first quarter, this positive trend is expected to continue rather than being a one-time performance.”

He added, “It is anticipated that overall production facility expansions in the semiconductor industry will increase this year, so demand for scrubbers and chillers is expected to remain steady. Additionally, as process miniaturization and environmental issues become more prominent, interest in our scrubbers, which offer both efficiency and eco-friendliness, is growing.”
