To create a pleasant residential environment, the district is promoting the '2021 Apartment Support Project' and has allocated a budget of 1.4 billion KRW this year, maintaining the highest level of funding among Seoul's autonomous districts following last year.
Last month, through the apartment support review, the project details for this year were decided, including support for 120 complexes with 60% of the previous year's total outdoor security lighting electricity costs, improvements to children's playground facilities, tree pruning, and both district-implemented and apartment self-implemented projects.
Among these, the improvement of working environment facilities for managers and cleaners and the renovation of multipurpose rooms for residents' communal use were selected as leading projects, with a total budget of 89,033,000 KRW allocated to 35 complexes for the working environment improvement project for managers and cleaners.
Accordingly, the district plans to support 70% of the total project cost to enable large-scale environmental maintenance, including installing air conditioners and water heaters, insulation work, window replacement, and other heating and cooling facility improvements at 19 security posts, as well as creating rest areas and renovating restrooms for managers and cleaners.
Meanwhile, in March, the district amended the ordinance on apartment support and management to add items for improving working facilities for security guards and cleaners to the support targets, establishing a basis for support for managers and others. A district official explained that through practical environmental improvements, managers will be able to work in a more pleasant environment after the project is completed.
Jigi-nam, the representative of the residents' association at Hangdang-dong Seoul Forest Sambu Apartment, said, "We are currently carrying out rest area creation projects for managers and cleaners in three locations within the complex," adding, "It is very rewarding to see sixteen managers and cleaners working in improved working environments."

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "We will do our best to complete the improvement of working conditions and environments for apartment managers and cleaners in the first half of the year, and we will continue the campaign to improve the titles used for managers to foster a culture of mutual respect in apartment communities." He added, "Since apartments and other collective housing account for more than 81% of the residential types in the area, we will actively support the repair and renovation of aging common facilities to create a safe and pleasant residential environment."
