Dobong-gu Opens Visiting 'Bonggune Food Truck' for Neighbors in Need
Provision of daily necessities to households by visiting designated locations in each neighborhood every Thursday from May 13 to August 12
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) will open the ‘Bonggune Food Truck’ every Thursday from May 13 to August 12 in each neighborhood to provide daily necessities to Dobong-gu residents struggling with their livelihoods due to COVID-19.
This ‘Bonggune Food Truck’ event is organized by the Dobong-gu Social Welfare Council and Dobong Food Market, supported by donations from companies and individuals.
The food truck will support a total of 1,300 households, providing about 30,000 KRW worth of items per person, with 4 to 5 items each. It will operate as a mobile food market, allowing residents facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 to select and take the items they need directly.
The support items mainly include daily necessities such as ramen, toothpaste, shampoo, and food. The food truck will visit designated locations in each neighborhood, and selected household members from each neighborhood can receive the items upon arrival.
The district plans to prevent COVID-19 by dispersing people during truck visits and item distribution, as well as enforcing mask-wearing and temperature checks.
Kim Yong-chu, chairman of the Dobong-gu Social Welfare Council, said, “We decided to join forces to deliver a message of hope by supporting daily necessities to Dobong-gu residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. We hope this brings some comfort to our neighbors.”
