Follow the Guide to Complete Tax Filing and Payment... 'Hometax Navi' Launched

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] An online service that allows taxpayers to easily complete tax filing and payment by simply following guidance, even without knowing tax terms or filing methods, will be provided starting from this year's comprehensive income tax filing.

The National Tax Service announced on the 10th that it has introduced a 'Navigation Service' on the taxpayer service Hometax and began a pilot operation from this comprehensive income tax filing. The Navigation Service, part of 'Hometax 2.0,' is an online service that enables taxpayers with limited tax knowledge to easily file and pay taxes by following step-by-step guidance.

The Navigation Service targets approximately 11 million people, combining 8.6 million who received comprehensive income tax filing notices and 2.4 million individuals with income of 1.5 million KRW or less, such as personal service providers (freelancers, platform workers).

When eligible taxpayers log in to Hometax, the 'Expand Hometax Navigation' menu appears at the top left. By clicking expand, the Navigation Service appears step-by-step, and users can proceed sequentially starting from selecting and viewing the notice on the far left.

Taxpayers who are not subject to comprehensive income tax filing, such as those with only earned income or public pension and who have completed year-end tax settlement, including religious income earners, are not eligible for the Navigation Service this time. Even if they log in to Hometax, the Navigation Service icon will not appear.

The National Tax Service plans to provide the Navigation Service to taxpayers who receive payment notices or reminders starting next month. Subsequently, the service will be gradually expanded until the end of the year to include VAT first-term final filing, capital gains tax preliminary filing, inheritance, gift, comprehensive real estate, consumption, and corporate tax filings.
