HanmiGlobal Strengthens ESG Management... Establishes Committee and Launches In-house Dedicated Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Construction project management (PM) company HanmiGlobal announced on the 10th that it will strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in earnest by establishing an ESG committee within the board of directors and creating an internal working council.
HanmiGlobal recently established an ESG committee within the board of directors to serve as a control tower for ESG management and appointed Professor Kim Han-eol, an outside director, as the chairman to enhance independence. In addition, an ESG working council led by President Lee Sang-ho was newly established within the company to expand ESG management.
HanmiGlobal has continuously engaged in ESG activities, including eco-friendly projects. In 2008, it obtained ISO14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems. In 2009, it acquired ISO45001 certification for occupational health and safety management systems and maintains related certifications through annual integrated ISO audits.
Last year, HanmiGlobal performed PM tasks for a 94MW solar power facility in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, and is currently carrying out PM duties for the 96MW Anjwa solar power plant development project in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, progressing in eco-friendly energy projects.
Additionally, it is currently undertaking construction projects for the Saemangeum offshore wind power and Jeju Hallim offshore wind power, and participating in numerous domestic renewable energy projects such as wind power complexes in Gashiri, Jeju, Uljin, Yeongyang, and Yanggu.
HanmiGlobal provides energy and eco-friendly building consulting throughout all phases of construction projects, including planning, design, construction, and operation. It conducts LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, a global eco-friendly building certification system, and in 2013, provided energy-saving and eco-friendly building consulting from design to construction stages for Naver’s data center ‘Gak Chuncheon,’ achieving LEED Platinum certification with the highest score worldwide among data centers.
Recently, HanmiGlobal has been offering construction project management services specialized in zero-energy and energy-saving buildings that align with ESG management. From the planning stage, it establishes energy-saving roadmaps, provides technical reviews and design guidelines, and conducts eco-friendly construction management. It also offers building energy management system implementation, an essential element for zero-energy buildings, and energy consulting during the operation phase, boasting over 40 project achievements.
Going forward, HanmiGlobal plans to set more precise environmental goals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and energy consumption at headquarters and project sites. It is also actively considering joining K-RE100.
Since its founding, HanmiGlobal has continued monthly donations and volunteer activities involving all employees. In 2010, it established the social welfare corporation ‘Ddaddeuthan Donghaeng’ under the slogan ‘A Warm World Without Disabilities,’ through which it is currently conducting active social contribution activities.

In the governance sector, HanmiGlobal plans to implement responsible management centered on the board of directors. To this end, it separates the roles of CEO and board chairperson and appoints an outside director as the board chairperson. HanmiGlobal also stated that it will continue steady dividends after listing to protect shareholder rights.
