Auction Winning Bid Expected Between 8 to 12 Million Pounds
One of the Most Important Privately Owned Works from the Renaissance Era
[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] Leonardo da Vinci's artwork 'Head of a Bear' is going up for auction. The expected winning bid is projected to reach up to 12 million pounds (approximately 18.7 billion KRW).
According to British media on the 7th (local time), da Vinci's 'Head of a Bear' will be auctioned at Christie's in London on July 8. The piece will be exhibited in London from June 1 to 8 before the auction, and will also be displayed in New York and Hong Kong. The winning bid for this artwork is expected to range from 8 million pounds (about 12.46 billion KRW) to 12 million pounds.
Ben Hall, head of Old Master Paintings at Christie's New York, described 'Head of a Bear' as "one of the most important works from the Renaissance period still in private ownership." He explained, "This piece has been owned by some of the most distinguished collectors in the field of Old Master works for centuries." He added, "The artwork has received acclaim while exhibited at prestigious museums worldwide, and Christie's is honored to bring it to the market."

Measuring 7 cm in width and 7 cm in height, 'Head of a Bear' is a silverpoint drawing on pale pink beige paper. Silverpoint is a drawing tool with a sharp metal tip coated with silver, which produces soft grayish silver lines when used. It was employed during the Renaissance era for creating delicate sketches.
