Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the 'Noonopi Education Award' was established in 1992 to discover exemplary teachers in South Korea and contribute to the development of public education. To date, a total of 206 recipients have been selected for their dedication to genuine educational advancement.
Daekyo explained that through a call for nominations in five categories?elementary education, secondary education, early childhood education, special education, and lifelong & global education?one winner will be selected from each category.
Eligible candidates are current teachers and educators who serve as social role models, and nominations can be submitted by their institution heads or through public recommendation.
This year, a newly introduced public recommendation system will accept submissions via the Daekyo Cultural Foundation website under the section 'Recommend Our Teacher.' This system was established to broaden the scope of candidates and discover awardees who align with the award’s original purpose by receiving recommendations of outstanding teachers from the general public, the foundation added.
The final recipients of the 'Noonopi Education Award' will receive a certificate, a plaque, and a prize of 15 million KRW, and educational equipment worth approximately 5 million KRW will be donated to their affiliated schools or institutions.
