Former Prime Minister Jeong Se-gyun's Gwangju-Jeonnam Support Group 'Naui Sowon' Officially Launched
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The support forum "My Wish" for Jeong Se-gyun, a potential presidential candidate from the ruling party and former Prime Minister, officially launched on the 4th after more than four months of preparation.
About 2,500 members from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, including figures from civil society, academia, media, religion, and the arts, are participating.
The launch ceremony was held both online and offline while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
Kim Myung-sul, former media company CEO; Kim Yong-kwon, chairman of the social welfare corporation Jinsan; Yoo Jae-han, professor at Chonnam National University; Yoon Oh-nam, professor at Chosun University; and Jeong Young-jae, executive director of the Baekbeom Cultural Foundation, were appointed as standing representatives.
Jeong Young-jae was appointed as the chairperson of the steering committee, and Jeon Young-nam (politician) was appointed as secretary-general.
They plan to operate with the goal of "overcoming the COVID-19 crisis through everyday political participation and politics of communication and empathy, fulfilling the reform of the Candlelight public sentiment, and creating a community society through economic recovery and the realization of an inclusive society."
A representative of My Wish stated, "We aim to play a role in the re-creation of the administration through broad discussions on issues in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions and communication with civil society," adding, "Next year's presidential election will be a turning point to move toward a new Republic of Korea, overcoming all the hardships experienced due to COVID-19 along with the stable transition of the Moon Jae-in administration."
