[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 6th that it has secured 104 million KRW in national funding after being selected for the '2021 National Safe Public Restroom Leading Project.'
This public contest project is promoted to prevent crimes in public restrooms located in crime-vulnerable areas such as parks, and to create a hygienic, convenient, and safe usage environment.
The city applied in March for two public restrooms at Yusin Park and Hwalcheon Park.
Yusin Park has water features within the park, making it a popular summer water play area for children accompanied by infants. However, the restroom entrance has a steep slope causing significant inconvenience to users, so it is planned to be demolished and rebuilt as an eco-friendly restroom.
Hwalcheon Park's restroom is outdated, so safety devices such as IoT emergency bells (two-way communication) and black box-type CCTVs will be installed to prevent crime and improve facilities.
Additionally, solar power generation facilities will be installed to save energy, and internal facilities will be improved so that residents can use the restrooms safely and conveniently, with maintenance planned within the year.
