Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Likely to Set Up Office for Confirmation Hearing Preparation Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Kim Oh-soo (58, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 20), the nominee for Prosecutor General, expressed his thoughts on the 3rd, saying, "I feel a heavy responsibility to be nominated as the Prosecutor General candidate during these difficult and challenging times," following President Moon Jae-in's nomination.
On the afternoon of the same day, immediately after being nominated by President Moon Jae-in as the new Prosecutor General candidate, Kim visited the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office and told reporters, "I will do my best to prepare for the confirmation hearing with a humble heart."
It is known that Kim's confirmation hearing preparation office will be set up at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office.
Kim is three senior classes ahead of his predecessor, former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl. This is the first time a candidate senior to the former Prosecutor General has been nominated.
Since being recommended as one of the four candidates by the Prosecutor General Candidate Recommendation Committee on the 29th of last month, he has been mentioned as a leading candidate.

He served as Vice Minister of Justice from 2018 during former Minister Park Sang-ki's tenure until early last year under former Minister Choo Mi-ae. Due to this background, he is evaluated to have a high understanding of prosecutorial reform, a key task of the Moon Jae-in administration.
