Yangsan-si Provides Livelihood Support Funds to Households Facing Income Reduction Crisis
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 3rd that it will provide temporary livelihood support funds to households whose income has decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The eligible households are those registered as residents as of March 1, whose income from January to May this year has decreased compared to their income in 2019 or 2020, with a standard median income of 75% or less, and assets of 350 million KRW or less (excluding financial assets and debts).
However, households that have received other COVID-19 disaster relief funds such as Basic Livelihood Security (livelihood benefits), Emergency Welfare (livelihood support), Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund, Beotimmok Plus Fund, or Income Stabilization Support Fund are excluded.
The support funds will be provided after verifying income, assets, and overlap of support, with eligible households receiving a one-time payment of 500,000 KRW per household by the end of June via bank transfer.
Households receiving the Small-scale Farm Management Voucher (300,000 KRW) will be paid the remaining 200,000 KRW, and university student work-study scholarship recipients can receive support concurrently.
Applications can be made online or in person. Online applications are accepted from the 10th to the 28th via the Bokjiro website or mobile app, with the head of household applying directly. The application operates on an odd-even system based on the last digit of the head of household’s birth year.
In-person applications can be submitted from the 17th to June 4 at the resident registration offices in eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare centers by the head of household, a household member of the same household, or a proxy. When applying by proxy, a power of attorney and identification for both the principal and the proxy must be presented.
Proof of income reduction includes withholding tax receipts, income certificates, health insurance qualification certificates, credit card sales confirmations, business suspension or closure reports, sales and purchase slips, transaction statements, bankbook transaction statements, and pay slips. If no proof documents are available, the applicant can submit a self-written income reduction report, which will be reviewed by a committee to determine eligibility.
