Korea Kolmar announced on the 3rd that it signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with HDC Hyundai EP on the 29th at the Comprehensive Technology Center located in Naegok-dong, Seoul, for the "Research and Development of Cosmetic Packaging Materials Using Eco-friendly Paper Plastics." The signing ceremony was attended by Korea Kolmar CEO Byungjun Ahn and HDC Hyundai EP CEO Jungkyu Jeong, among others.
Following this agreement, both companies plan to leverage their top expertise in their respective fields to develop eco-friendly cosmetic container materials. Hyundai EP will develop eco-friendly bio-materials, while Korea Kolmar will actively engage in developing and commercializing cosmetic container materials using these bio-materials.
Prior to signing the MOU, the two companies have already been conducting mass production and container application tests of cosmetic tubes containing cellulose derived from wood. Cellulose-containing plastics are noted as eco-friendly new materials due to their high biodegradability and are effective in reducing plastic usage. The companies plan to expand their eco-friendly packaging lineup by applying cellulose plastics not only to tubes but also to various cosmetic packaging materials.
Korea Kolmar CEO Byungjun Ahn stated, "As a global cosmetics ODM company, Korea Kolmar has already pioneered the development of paper tubes domestically, shifting the cosmetic container paradigm from primarily plastic to eco-friendly containers. Through this MOU with Hyundai EP, we will take the lead in establishing an eco-friendly cosmetic container material ecosystem."
