[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A man in his 20s, accused of killing his older sister and disposing of her body in an agricultural waterway, was found to have been searching the internet out of concern that the body would be discovered.
According to the investigation team at the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on the 1st, A (27), who is charged with murder and corpse abandonment, was found to have searched the internet after the crime, worried that the body would float to the surface of the agricultural waterway. The police discovered through A’s mobile phone that he frequently searched for news articles related to Ganghwado incidents on internet portals.
Earlier, A was investigated for stabbing his 30-year-old sister B to death with a weapon at their apartment in Namdong-gu, Incheon, last December. A kept B’s body on the apartment rooftop for 10 days, then placed it in a suitcase and transported it by rental car to dispose of it in an agricultural waterway in Seokmodo, Samsan-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon.
B’s body was discovered by a nearby resident on the 21st of last month, four months later. The suitcase containing B’s body was also found in the waterway, and the police suspect that the body floated to the surface because the suitcase was not properly closed.
During police questioning, A stated, "I didn’t get along with my sister," and "On the day of the crime, she scolded me for coming home late, so we argued, and I committed the crime impulsively." After the crime, he deceived his parents into canceling a missing person report by pretending his sister was still alive, and even held the memorial photo himself during the funeral procession on the 25th of last month.
