"Training Without Masks"… MLB Teams Ease COVID-19 Guidelines After 'Vaccine' Rollout
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Major League Baseball (MLB) office announced on the 1st (Korean time) that it will ease COVID-19 guidelines for nine teams that have achieved an 85% vaccination rate against COVID-19 among first-level personnel, including players, coaches, and team officials.
Four teams' first-level personnel have already completed their second vaccine doses at least two weeks ago, and those teams have relaxed the MLB office's strict quarantine guidelines previously applied to outings and gatherings.
The remaining five teams have also exceeded the 85% vaccination rate and will be able to enjoy the benefits of eased quarantine standards after two weeks.
On March 30, the MLB office expressed its intention to ease COVID-19 quarantine guidelines for teams whose first-level personnel vaccination rate reached 85%.
However, the MLB teams did not disclose the information about the nine teams on that day.
According to the eased guidelines, members of the nine teams can freely dine at their preferred restaurants, enjoy indoor activities such as sauna and video games in the clubhouse without wearing masks during training, and in hotel rooms.
Additionally, they are no longer required to report to team-designated monitors who manage compliance with COVID-19 guidelines when going out from designated accommodations.
