View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Teragen Bio announced on the 30th that it has introduced the advanced equipment 'GeoMx,' the first in the genomics industry to analyze single cells while identifying tissue location information.
This equipment was developed by NanoString, a U.S.-based diagnostic technology development company. Along with the equipment introduction, Teragen Bio also obtained the 'Certified Service Provider (CSP)' certification from the manufacturer. This equipment can acquire genomic data while maintaining the positional information of individual cells within the tissue. Because it allows understanding of the genomic and cellular characteristics expressed at specific locations and the interactions between cells, precise diagnosis and discovery of therapeutic targets are possible. Additionally, unlike existing equipment, it can accurately analyze ribonucleic acid (RNA) samples extracted not only from frozen tissues but also from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue fragments, thereby broadening the scope of research.
Teragen Bio expects to use this equipment to spatially analyze immune cells, fibroblasts, and extracellular matrix within the tumor microenvironment in three dimensions to discover target biomarkers involved in cancer occurrence and progression.
Teragen Bio plans to utilize the acquired information for research related to genome-based anticancer drug development and companion diagnostics. In particular, through RNA transcriptome analysis in this research, it is expected to histologically verify the tumor infiltration of immune cells that determine the responsiveness to immunotherapy and accurately identify individual cancer causes.
