Jeongeup-si Extends Application Period for 'Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeollabuk-do announced on the 30th that it will extend the application period for the ‘2021 Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance Support Project,’ which began in February, until the 21st of next month.
The original deadline for applying and submitting for the Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance was until today. However, considering the closure of village halls and restrictions on external activities due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the busy farming season, the city decided to extend the application period to prevent eligible applicants from being missed.
The Farmer and Fisherman Public Interest Allowance is a project implemented to preserve and enhance the public interest functions of agriculture and rural areas, thereby creating a sustainable agricultural and rural environment and improving the quality of life for farmers.
The support targets are households that, as of January 1, 2021, have continuously maintained their resident registration address in Jeollabuk-do for more than two years, have maintained agricultural management entity registration for more than two years, and actually cultivate 1,000㎡ or more within Jeollabuk-do.
This year, newly included support targets are beekeeping farms and fishing farms.
Beekeeping farms must have registered beekeeping businesses in cities or counties within the province by December 31, 2020, and fishing farms must have maintained resident registration addresses in Jeollabuk-do for more than two years as of January 1, 2021, and maintained fishing management entity registration for more than two years.
Accordingly, the number of eligible farmer households for Jeongeup City’s public interest allowance support, including beekeeping (50 farms) and fishing (47 farms), is 11,317 households, an increase of 689 households compared to 10,628 households last year.
Accordingly, the budget also increased by about 360 million KRW, from approximately 6.43 billion KRW last year to about 6.79 billion KRW.
Eligible farmers and fishermen can submit their application forms and required documents to their local eup, myeon, or dong offices by the 21st of next month.
The city will verify the eligibility of applicants, finalize the list of recipients, and plans to distribute the allowance collectively in Jeonghyangnuri gift certificates by September (before Chuseok).
