A man who spent a night after hiking with a mountain club threatened... 50-year-old woman given probation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A woman in her 50s who met a man through a mountain hiking club and extorted money from him by threatening him after spending a night together was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 30th, according to the court, Judge Son Jeong-yeon of the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 6 sentenced A (56), who was tried on charges of extortion and assault, to 4 months in prison with a 2-year suspension.
A stayed at a motel with B (59) after hiking with the mountain hiking club and drinking last January, and from the next day, threatened B by saying, "If you do not pay compensation, I will disclose this on the club's band and inform your wife and children."
Frightened, B transferred 5 million won, but A demanded a larger amount. It was investigated that A sent threatening messages 179 times over two months and also filed a complaint against B for forcible molestation. In March of the same year, A met B again through an acquaintance's arrangement, demanded money again, and when B refused, splashed water on B's face and threw a glass of alcohol.

Judge Son stated, "While it is acknowledged that they stayed together at the motel, it cannot be seen that B committed a sexual crime against A," and ruled, "The act of applying psychological pressure to extort a settlement itself constitutes another criminal act."
