Haitai to Build 4,200-Pyeong Eco-Friendly Snack Factory in Asan, Chungnam
42 billion KRW investment, maximum production capacity 220 billion KRW
Home Run Ball trays to be replaced with eco-friendly materials
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Haitai Confectionery is building an eco-friendly snack factory in Asan, Chungnam. Additionally, the plastic trays for Home Run Ball will be replaced with eco-friendly materials.
Haitai Confectionery announced on the 30th that it will construct a new snack factory measuring approximately 14,000㎡ (4,200 pyeong) in Eumbong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam, aiming to start production in September next year. The newly built factory, with a total investment of 45 billion KRW (excluding land), will produce Haitai’s main products such as Home Run Ball, Ace, and French Pie. The maximum annual production capacity is valued at 220 billion KRW.
Haitai will build the new factory as an eco-friendly facility applying the latest technologies. A solar power generation system covering 2,800 pyeong will be installed on the factory roof, producing over 200 million KRW worth of electricity annually, significantly reducing electricity consumption. Additionally, a low-NOx eco-friendly boiler will be used to cut carbon dioxide emissions by half. Equipment such as air compressors will be replaced with high-efficiency, energy-saving utilities to reduce electricity usage by more than 20%, and the latest filtering systems will be applied to perfectly separate pollutants in advance, discharging only safe wastewater.
Haitai Confectionery also plans to replace the plastic trays of Home Run Ball with eco-friendly materials. The new Home Run Ball production line, to be installed in the second half of next year, will incorporate eco-friendly process equipment. A new eco-friendly material to replace plastic has been developed and will be introduced in the new production line. The application of the new eco-friendly material for Home Run Ball trays is expected to be completed by the second half of next year.
