Gwangju City Holds the 10th Artificial Intelligence Industry Promotion Forum
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City held the ‘10th Artificial Intelligence Industry Promotion Forum’ on the morning of the 28th at the Holiday Inn Hotel Gwangju.
The specialized theme of this 10th forum was the ‘AI+Energy’ sector. Considering the COVID-19 situation, about 30 industry-academia-research stakeholders related to energy, one of Gwangju’s AI specialized industries, participated through prior registration.
Although it had been conducted online in a non-face-to-face manner until now, following requests from AI companies to strengthen networks for fostering the AI industry ecosystem, the forum was held in a small-scale face-to-face format while complying with quarantine guidelines.
At this forum, Jeong Jun-hong, Deputy General Manager of KEPCO KDN, gave a lecture titled ‘Power Industry and Artificial Intelligence in the Era of Energy Transformation.’
Deputy General Manager Jeong holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University, serves as a director of the Electrical Facilities Division of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, and is currently the head of the Power AI Department at the Power ICT Research Institute of KEPCO KDN Co., Ltd., possessing profound expertise in AI in the power sector.
He introduced the energy transformation and power industry trends following the 4th Industrial Revolution and Korea’s New Deal policy and delivered a lecture on AI technology applications in the power sector.
Starting with domestic and international power industry trends and major changes, he presented AI technology application cases and policy directions related to power generation fuel cost prediction systems, power generation forecasting systems, and smart power plants.
Additionally, the forum introduced the local company Greeda Energy Co., Ltd. to strengthen organic networks and collaboration with regional companies. Greeda Energy Co., Ltd. produces energy operation and trading platforms as its main products and was designated last month as an energy-specialized company by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The AI Industry Promotion Forum is regularly held every month as a venue to share successful cases of AI convergence, strengthen regional industrial competitiveness, and promote mutual development through exchanges of talent, technology, and information.
