On the 27th, Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop presented appointment letters to the 50 members of the 10th Citizen Auditors, who were selected through a public recruitment process, at the Mudeung Hall in City Hall.
The newly selected citizen auditors are citizens interested in various fields such as culture, health, welfare, and environment. They will identify and propose improvements for ▲public official corruption ▲budget waste ▲citizen inconveniences, and also observe audits of public institutions organized by the city.
Gwangju has been operating the citizen auditor system since 2003 to implement fair and transparent open audit administration. Citizen auditors serve as unpaid honorary positions with a two-year term and are selected through public recruitment.
In particular, citizen auditors have been actively engaged in recent years, proposing 297 cases of citizen inconveniences and 81 audit-related opinions over the past three years.
