MoF and KMA Sign Agreement on Climate Change Response for Korean Peninsula and Polar Regions
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 27th that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation to respond to climate change and changes in the marine environment through a non-face-to-face meeting.
This is based on government research and analysis indicating that abnormal climate phenomena such as the cold wave and heat wave in 2018 and the record-breaking monsoon last year occurred on the Korean Peninsula due to environmental changes in the Arctic and surrounding waters of the Korean Peninsula.
The two agencies will share marine and meteorological climate observation data and exchange information in areas such as atmospheric and marine climate change scenarios and climate change monitoring technologies.
