[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Com2uS announced on the 27th that it has invested approximately 20 billion KRW in the comprehensive media content company MediaCan, securing a 30% stake.
MediaCan is a comprehensive media group with integrated expertise in the video business sector, including broadcasting services and content production. It has built business capabilities in the legacy media field through channel transmission services for over 60 PP companies, the largest scale in Korea, and the operation of numerous cable channels.
Since 2018, MediaCan has strengthened its future competitiveness by actively investing in next-generation digital content business areas through the acquisition of several subsidiaries such as Philcon Media, MediaL, Plady, and Mvil.
In particular, the subsidiary Plady produces diverse content including web dramas, web entertainment, and web documentaries based on its rich planning capabilities, and holds numerous original content IPs (intellectual property rights) optimized for recent digital environments such as broadcasting, OTT (online video services), and signage.
Com2uS plans to globalize various IPs owned by MediaCan and its subsidiaries and explore cooperation plans to convert Com2uS game IPs into digital content, while also expanding into overseas markets.
