[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Former People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won stated, "Correctly reestablishing (history) is always a difficult and arduous task, but nonetheless, it is something that someone must accomplish and leave behind."
On the 26th, in a post on her Facebook, former lawmaker Na said, "I firmly believe that history will ultimately flow according to its natural course. Even if it wavers momentarily due to winds blowing from various directions, the arrow of right and wrong will not change."
She pointed out, "This administration and the Democratic Party can no longer hide the true nature of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO)," adding, "Just by looking at the privileged behavior of Prosecutor General Lee Sung-yoon’s imperial-style investigation, it is clear that the CIO was nothing more than a power puzzle wrongly assembled from the start."
She criticized, "Due to preferential investigations for regime insiders, suspicions of false press releases, and unsavory controversies related to prosecutor recruitment, the CIO’s fairness and neutrality have long since been cracked in the eyes of the public."
She continued, "The administration may have been momentarily shocked by the warning bell rung by the people in the by-elections, but the terrifying advance of the CIO remains deeply concerning," adding, "Our desperate efforts to stop the dangerous and unjust CIO were exactly our stance during the fast-track political situation."
She also claimed, "At that time, the Democratic Party wielded a crowbar to incapacitate us," and said, "When I raised that crowbar to expose the Democratic Party’s terrifying violence to the public, a nasty 'fake frame' began again."
She said, "They started to falsely brand me as if I had wielded the crowbar," adding, "We did not wield the crowbar; rather, we were shocked by it, but the truth was turned upside down and transformed into a lie."
She emphasized, "Today, I stood in court again to face the fast-track trial, and though it is exhausting and heartbreaking, the more trials I face, and as the end of this administration’s five-year clock approaches, my conviction that 'we were right' grows even stronger."
Finally, former lawmaker Na shared her reflections, saying, "Suddenly having to step down from my role as floor leader and eventually having to let go of the last thread of negotiations that had gradually taken shape in the early winter of 2019 leaves me with lasting regrets."
