Jeonnam Province to Operate 'Special Social Distancing and Quarantine Week' Until the 2nd of Next Month
Inspection of Compliance with Quarantine Rules in Multi-use Facilities
Recommendation to Actively Promote Remote Work and Flexible Working Hours System
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 26th that it will operate a ‘Special Social Distancing Quarantine Week’ for one week until the 2nd of next month to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
This special quarantine week is a special measure to reduce the number of new daily confirmed cases, which has been steadily increasing recently and threatens to reach around 800 cases per day.
In the public sector, unnecessary events including local festivals, face-to-face meetings, and gatherings such as dinners are prohibited, and telecommuting will be expanded.
Compliance with quarantine rules at multi-use facilities such as entertainment establishments, restaurants and cafes, and singing practice rooms, where confirmed cases have been increasing recently, will also be intensively inspected.
The province plans to expand telecommuting and flexible working hours in the public sector, ban dinners and gatherings, and conduct surprise inspections for violations of quarantine rules.
In the private sector, telecommuting and flexible working hours will also be actively recommended.
In particular, joint inspections by city and county governments will be conducted until the 7th of next month to focus on compliance with quarantine rules at multi-use facilities such as entertainment establishments, restaurants and cafes, and singing practice rooms, where the proportion of cluster infections has increased from 13.6% in mid-January to 67.1% at the end of March.
To strengthen the enforcement of quarantine measures during the intensive management period, fines and legal actions will be taken without exception for violations of quarantine rules.
Separately, a two-week ban on gatherings will be implemented, and economic support such as disaster relief funds will be excluded.
