[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] An American woman in Bali, Indonesia, who deceived a security guard by drawing a mask on her face to pretend she was wearing one and entered a supermarket, is facing widespread criticism.
On the 21st (local time), according to Indonesian local media such as Detik.com, an American woman tried to enter a supermarket in Bali, Indonesia without wearing a mask but was stopped by a security guard. The woman then disappeared for a moment and reappeared, and this time the security guard let her pass. However, she was still not wearing a mask.
The woman painted half of her face blue to make it look like she was wearing a mask to deceive the security guard. She also drew white lines around her ears to resemble mask straps. Seeing this, the security guard mistakenly thought the woman was wearing a mask.
The man accompanying her said, "Don't open your mouth (because you might get caught)." Most of the supermarket customers did not realize that the woman was not wearing a mask, and she wandered around the supermarket.
The woman even filmed herself and posted a 1 minute and 36 seconds video on social media.
In response, Indonesian netizens expressed anger, demanding her immediate arrest and deportation. Netizens criticized the woman with comments such as "selfish" and "mocking people who wear masks." They also urged the immigration office and police to investigate.
