Suncheon-si Operates Citizen Book Writing Program 'I Am Also a Writer'
Book Writing Program for Youth and Families at Yeonhyang Library
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 23rd that, as part of the citizen book-writing project, the Suncheon City Yeonhyang Library will conduct two book-writing programs: ‘Plan Your Career with a Future Autobiography’ for teenagers and ‘Life Stories Written Together by Families’ for couples, parents and children, and other families.
‘Plan Your Career with a Future Autobiography’ is a program that has been continuously conducted since 2018, having been selected for four consecutive years in the advanced course category of the Library Humanities on the Road contest project.
This year, it is planned to be held a total of 20 times starting from the 15th of next month for 30 middle and high school students in Suncheon.
Participants in the program will spend time with writer Im Jae-sung and instructor Lee Mi-young to design and plan their future, imagining the process of their dreams coming true as if it has already happened, creating a book that covers their life from childhood to old age.
‘Life Stories Written Together by Families’ is a program starting for the first time this year, scheduled to be held 21 times starting from the 15th of next month, allowing 20 pairs of families such as couples, parents and children, or grandparents and grandchildren to participate together.
Generations participate together to express their life stories in the form of autobiographies, find common stories, and interpret those stories from different perspectives to understand and heal each other, leading to growth and maturity for a happy life.
Upon completion of all courses in both programs, participants will publish one book, receive some copies of the book they wrote, and the books will also be available for reading at the Suncheon City Library.
Applications for participation are being accepted through the Suncheon City Library website until the 12th of next month.
