At the event, Chairperson Yang said, "The first task is to gather opinions from the field and propose possible support measures and regulatory relaxations through presidential executive orders to the President." She emphasized, "From the immediate shortage of automotive semiconductors to long-term talent development in semiconductors, if there are areas the government has not yet identified, we will examine and fill those gaps."
The Special Committee plans to introduce a Semiconductor Industry Support Special Act by August.
Yang stated, "The special law will be at a level that can overwhelm the support measures of competing countries," adding, "We will prepare ultra-exceptional support measures to the extent that the term 'radical' will seem inadequate."
She added, "Whether the Republic of Korea collapses or soars depends on this battle," and "This war will decide whether we remain at the threshold of advanced countries or become the leading nation that drives them." She further emphasized, "There is no war that can be won without the support and backing of the people," and "Just as we overcame the crisis triggered by Japan, we will once again unite our strength and repay with victory."
