According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1-2 (Chief Judge Eom Sangpil, Judges Sim Dam and Lee Seungryun) changed the date of Professor Jeong's appeal trial, originally scheduled for the 26th, to the 10th of next month.
It was reported that Professor Jeong's movement overlapped with other inmates in the detention center who had contact with a lawyer who tested positive during a meeting with her own lawyer. Although Professor Jeong tested negative for COVID-19, she was classified as a quarantine subject for two weeks.
Professor Jeong was prosecuted on charges including obstruction of business, fraud, and forgery and use of private documents, and was sentenced to four years in prison and detained in court in the first trial last year.
